The Young Men's Christian Association (YMCA) began in 1844 in the United Kingdom, with its first U.S. chapter opening in 1851. Wake Forest College's chapter appears to have started in 1898, and ended sometime around 1923. This collection contains a record book, with a constitution for the organization, member lists, and meeting minutes, and reports and notes.

Biographical and Historical Note

The Young Men's Christian Association (YMCA) began in 1844 in the United Kingdom, with its first U.S. chapter opening in 1851 in Boston, Massachusetts. Wake Forest College's chapter appears to have started in 1898 and closed after 1923. People named in the minutes include T. Neill Johnson (1898), E. L. Womble (1898), W. W. Barnes (1904), S. G. Flournoy (1901), W. H. Weatherspoon (1907), Hubert Poteat (1906), J. Melville Broughton, Jr. (1910), and W. F. Herring.
