Biographical and Historical Note
WFU's Volunteer Service Corps (VSC) was a student service organization that ran from 1989 to 2020. Its mission was to "instill in Wake Forest University students, faculty, and staff a commitment to humanitarian values and civic responsibility." Formed from a small group of students in the Chaplain's office, the group grew to more than 600 students, partnering with over 55 community and 35 student organizations at its height. In 1994, it began coordinating service trips to Calcutta, India, and three others to Mexico City, Honduras, and Vietnam soon followed. The group participated in a variety of campus life activities. Winston-Salem partners included schools, churches, and community projects.
