According to a 1945 <title render="italic">Biblical Recorder</title> article by Arthur R. Gallimore, "Wake Forest College and Missions," the Wake Forest Missionary Society was created in the years after the Civil War and continued "for fifty years or more"; it is mentioned in the Recorder through 1933. Members included local church attendees, college students, and community members. Members paid a small fee "of at least five cents" according to Gallimore.</p> <p>Members who contribute to the book's minutes include E. W. Sikes, W. W. Barnes, Elliot Earnshaw, Theodore B. Davis, E. A. Turner, and J. Lanier; some of these names may mis-transcribed. </p> </bioghist> <scopecontent id="aspace_d201546273d8f1a129626dac77c5dc45"> <head>Collection Overview</head> <p>This collection contains a record book for the missionary society, containing meeting minutes and short financial reports, and an envelope with notes on it regarding Sunday schools.</p> </scopecontent> <prefercite id="aspace_8bd6e02e1984804619db8c204ac49158"> <head>Preferred Citation</head> <p>Student Organizations.
