Biographical and Historical Note
The preface pages indicated that "Head of Mayo" and "Black Walnut" Baptist churches joined together in 1799, meeting at John Brookes' home in Person and at Black Walnut. Bethel was first noted in 1803 as another meeting place. They met at Bethel and "The Walnut" until 1817. It holds an association with the Beulah Baptist Association.

The contents of these records contain minutes of church conferences from March 5, 1803 to September 30, 1828(?); and from 1839-1884, and 1911-1931, including a printed copy of an 1860 minute from Flat River Baptist Association.
