Biographical and Historical Note
On October 30, 1899, the Reverend S.J. Becker, Field Missionary of the Yadkin Baptist Association came to Siloam and preached to a few people in the grove on some land belonging to Mr. Sam Atkinson. Seeing the need for a Baptist church Mr. Atkinson donated the land and a building was begun. The Reverend Becker returned October 21, 1900 for a meeting which continued until October 23, 1900. On this date Mr. Harding Norman from Rockford Baptist Church and John Ross from East Bend Baptist Church were requested to assist Mr. Becker in organizing a Baptist church. There were 10 charter members.
