Douglas Waller was a journalist and reporter, covering military and foreign affairs, as well as an author of books on those topics. This collection documents Waller's research for his books, A Question of Loyalty: General Billy Mitchell and the Court Martial that Gripped the Nation and  Lincoln's Spies: Their Secret War to Save a Nation. Included among his research notes are photocopies of primary and secondary research sources, biographical files, interview notes, personal letters, photographs, transcripts, and personal diaries. Biographical and Historical Note

Douglas C. Waller was born in Norfolk, Virginia on June 30, 1949. He received a BA in English from Wake Forest University and later attended University of North Carolina, Charlotte, where he received a Master of Arts degree in Urban Administration. Waller was a journalist and reporter, covering military and foreign affairs for publications such as Time and  Newsweek. He also worked as a legislative assistant. Waller wrote several books on military topics, including  Commandos, Air Warriors, Big Red, Wild Bill Donovan, and  Disciples. Waller and his wife Judy lived in Raleigh, North Carolina.
