Included among his research notes are photocopies of primary and secondary research sources, biographical files, interview notes, personal letters, photographs, transcripts, and personal diaries. Administrative records related to publication are also included.</abstract>

      <head>Biographical Note</head>
      <p>Douglas C. Waller was born in Norfolk, Virginia on June 30, 1949. He received a BA in English from Wake Forest University and later attended University of North Carolina, Charlotte, where he received a Master of Arts degree in Urban Administration. Waller was a journalist and reporter, covering military and foreign affairs for publications such as <title render="italic"><part>Time</part></title> and <title render="italic"><part>Newsweek</part></title>. He also worked as a legislative assistant. Waller wrote several books on military topics, including <title render="italic"><part>Commandos, Air Warriors, Big Red, Wild Bill Donovan</part></title>, and <title render="italic"><part>Disciples</part></title>. Waller and his wife Judy lived in Raleigh, North Carolina.</p>
