Biographical and Historical Note
The Fugitives were a group of poets and scholars, mostly white men, who came together at Nashville, Tennessee's Vanderbilt University in the 1920s. From 1922–1925, the group published a small literary magazine, The Fugitive. The Fugitives partly overlapped chronologically and also in membership, the Agrarians, a group consisting of writers, poets, essayists, and novelists that was also started at Vanderbilt University. Members included Donald Davidson, Laura Riding Jackson, Randall Jarrell, Merrill Moore, John Crowe Ransom, Allen Tate, and Robert Penn Warren.

Collection Overview
This collection contains photographs of four poets, all men: likely the poets Donald Davidson, John Crowe Ransom, Allen Tate, and Robert Penn Warren. Also included is an undated audioreel. The photographs likely come from the May 3-5, 1956, Fugitives reunion, held at Vanderbilt. An artwork behind them in some of the images depicts a popular image of six of the men closely associated with the Fugitives group.
