Baum, sometimes Curt, was a young German Jewish boy when he was sent to the United States to escape Nazi rule in Germany. Over several years, beginning in 1937, Baum received letters from his family members in Germany. Baum, sometimes Curt, was a 17-year-old German Jewish boy in 1937 when he fled from Nazi Germany to the United States, specfically Cincinnati, Ohio. He continually received letters from family members living in Bamberg, Germany, up until about 1958. He was husband to Rose Baum, and together they had two children, Maralynn Martin and Rita (Sam) Postolski.
