Student Organizations. Delphi Society and Delta Gamma Fraternity Records
The Delphi Society was a local women's society created in 1985; in 1993, it became the Zeta Tau chapter of the Delta Gamma Fraternity sorority. Materials in this collection include photographs, Delta Gamma constitution, correspondence, and new member materials.
Biographical and Historical Note
The Delphi Society was one of Wake Forest's local women's societies that existed on campus before the first sorority, the historically Black organization Delta Sigma Theta, came to Wake in 1988. Delphi Society was created in 1985 by women students Lisa Bell, Catherine Hancock, and Heidi Klug. As the sorority grew, they received a charter from the national chapter of Delta Gamma Fraternity and became the Zeta Tau chapter in 1993. A member of the Panhellenic Council, Delta Gamma dissolved in 1998 when they had trouble recruiting enough members.
