Quick Pick Databases
Transcript
Hello, you're watching "how to find a general database," my name is Lauren Presley and I'll show you how to do it. Right now we're at the Z. Smith Reynolds library homepage, the URL is zsr.wfu.edu. Across the top of the page you see several tabs to help you find materials, and since we're looking for a database we'll click on the databases tab. Here you'll see that we've selected several quick picks for you. Academic Search Premier and ProQuest are really good general databases. If you're not sure where to get started, that's where I would go. We have a couple other useful ones here too, Encyclopedia Britannica will give you an overview of a topic if you're looking something general. Business Source Complete is good for business students. You might be interested in the OED to see the history of a word. WorldCat will show you books and libraries all over, so if there's a book that you want but you can't find here, you can see if there's one in a library nearby. These quick picks will help you find a database if you're not exactly sure where to begin. If you want something more specific, of course you can always ask a librarian. You can contact us at zsr.wfu.edu/ask.
