Z. Smith Reynolds Library co-workers are thrilled that Linda Early was recognized with the Wake Forest University Employee of the Year Award at the Tenth Annual Staff Awards Recognition Luncheon on October 7. Linda came to WFU as an undergraduate student in the Theatre department and has been an active member of the WFU community for over 20 years. She began working at the WFU Bookstore in 1984. She subsequently came to ZSR, where she is currently the Head of Monographic Acquisitions. In her current role, she manages the operations for purchasing books and DVDs for the library collection.

Linda interacts with people across many parts of the University. For many years she has greeted new students with their families during ThinkPad distribution, worked with faculty in acquiring materials to support research and supervised student workers in the library. She is known for the enthusiastic encouragement and support she gives to the students as well as to her co-workers. Linda is an ideal representative of Wake Forest University as she communicates with library vendors around the world, demonstrating professionalism and courtesy. Linda also actively engages with the WFU community beyond the scope of her position. She recently served on the Dianne Jordon Scholarship Committee for the Theatre and Dance Department, as well as on the University United Way Kick-Off Committee, while also acting as the United Way representative from the library.

Upon receiving the award, Linda told attendees, “I love my job,” and complimented her co-workers and cited the Library’s mission “to help our students, faculty, and staff succeed.” Linda has exemplified the dedication to ZSR and Wake Forest that the award is meant to honor. Please join us in congratulating her!
