Z. Smith Reynolds Library held its annual Employee Recognition Luncheon on May 25 to acknowledge the great work faculty and staff accomplished this academic year. The underscore of the gathering was the announcement of ZSR’s Outstanding Faculty Employee of the Year, and Outstanding Staff Employee of the Year.

The event was organized by ZSR’s Employee Recognition Committee and held on campus at Reynolda Hall in the Magnolia Room. Tim Pyatt, dean of the library, hosted the program and presented the awards. Both awards are determined based on the nominations of ZSR library faculty and staff.

Staff nominees:

  • Will Clarke—Senior Systems Administrator
  • Kathy Martlock—Library Specialist
  • Monesha Staton-Fluker—Library Specialist

Faculty nominees:

  • Kevin Gilbertson—Web Services Librarian
  • Jeff Eller—Head of Acquisitions & Description
  • Susan S. Smith—Associate Dean
  • Joy Gambill—Teaching Librarian
  • Mary Beth Lock—Director of Access Services

Monesha Staton-Fluker received the staff award. Monesha’s nominations cited her admirable leadership on ZSR’s Diversity and Inclusion initiatives. As a member of the Diversity and Inclusion Committee, she was recognized for her ability to fashion new ideas, as well as being tireless in implementing initiatives key to the committee’s success.

The faculty award was presented to Joy Gambill. In part, Joy was recognized for her distinguished involvement in the Connect@Wake: Beijing program in the summer of 2017, rigorous commitment as chair of the Library Lecture series, and her volunteer work in the Wake Forest Global Laureate’s Academy.

Both award recipients received a specially designed certificate, a permanent acknowledgement on an Outstanding Employee of the Year plaque, and $1,000.

The annual Student Employee of the Year was awarded to Natalie Cascario on May 3 during the library’s Student Assistant Appreciation Pizza and Salad Party. Natalie received a certificate and $250.
