If you’ve ever wanted to sharpen your finance skills or add a recognized business credential to your resume, we have some exciting news: WFU students, staff, and faculty now have remote access to Bloomberg certifications through Bloomberg for Education — and you can complete them from anywhere, at no cost to you.
What Certifications Are Available?
WFU students, staff, and faculty now have remote access to four Bloomberg certifications:
- Bloomberg Market Concepts (BMC) – The flagship Bloomberg certification. BMC is a self-paced e-learning course covering over 70 Bloomberg Terminal functions across five modules — Economic Indicators, Currencies, Fixed Income, Equities, and Getting Started on the Terminal. It’s one of the most recognized credentials you can add to your resume in finance and business.
- Bloomberg Finance Fundamentals – A deeper dive into core finance concepts, connecting real-world market data with foundational financial theory.
- Bloomberg ESG – Explore environmental, social, and governance (ESG) investing — one of the fastest-growing areas in finance — and learn how Bloomberg data supports ESG analysis and decision-making.
- Bloomberg Spreadsheet Analysis – Learn how to pull Bloomberg data directly into Excel for financial modeling and analysis, a practical skill valued across finance, consulting, and beyond.
What Does Remote Access Mean for You?
As part of our Bloomberg subscription WFU now receives access to 300 free Bloomberg certification web licenses annually. Once we meet the 300 free license threshold, the WFU community can still access all Bloomberg certifications via the four physical terminals inside the Business Information Commons at Farrell Hall.
This builds on resources the ZSR Library has supported for years. For a full picture of Bloomberg tools available to the WFU community, visit the ZSR Library Bloomberg Research Guide
