ZSR Library will launch its fall 2007 lecture series with an observance of “Banned Books Week.” Banned Books Week is a nationwide, annual event to promote free expression that is sponsored by libraries, booksellers, publishers and writers. Charles Sligh, visiting assistant professor of English, and Jessica Richard, assistant professor of English, will read passages from challenged books at 4 p.m. September 27 in the library atrium.
The series continues October 10, with Margaret Bender, associate professor of anthropology at Wake Forest and department chair. She will speak on “Visibility, Authenticity and Boundaries in Cherokee Language Ideologies” at 3 p.m. in room 204 at the library.
Matt Johnson, senior book conservator at Etherington Conservation Services, will deliver a lecture titled “A Massive Undertaking: The Conservation of the N.C. Museum of Art’s Audubon Folios” at 3 p.m. November 7 in room 204 at the library.
