The ZSR Library has just completed an audit to discover additional ways we can protect our users’ privacy. We agree with the American Library Association that privacy is essential to the exercise of free speech, free thought, and free expression.Lack of privacy and confidentiality chills users’ choices, thereby suppressing access to ideas. We are considering changes in library policy that may have implications for some user requests for their past reading histories. For example, library staff would no longer keep records of previous individual circulation or interlibrary transactions. If you have any comments on this policy or process, please contact Lynn Sutton.
