This fall, ZSR awarded a second round of grants based on money raised through the Presidential Trust for Faculty Excellence campaign. These “Presidential Grants” fund special library purchases and collection development projects.
This year, the library received 30 grant requests and awarded more than $110,000. Individual grants ranged from $800 to $20,000, with the average grant ranging from $2,000 to $5,000. Purchases from the grants will support a wide range of projects including:
- Retrospective development of our Middle East and Arabic collections,
- Strengthening our collections in Environmental Science and Environmental Studies,
- A collaborative teaching project on performance art,
- Purchase of documentary films on eating disorders and other health issues confronted by college students, and
- A multi-pronged teaching approach that will use an extensive array of media to explore the cultures of four indigenous groups along the Pacific Rim.
ZSR also awarded a grant to the Counseling Department and WFUBMC Trauma Center in support of their collaborative Alcohol Screening and Brief Intervention Project. Another grant went to the School of Divinity in collaboration with the School of Medicine to support the new Graduate Certificate in Health and Spirituality.
