New Databases

Empire Online comprises a digital collection of original documents and images relating to Empire Studies. The collection includes manuscript and printed material spanning five centuries, from not only British but also French, Dutch, Spanish, North American, and other points of view. You may download, print or photocopy images in the collection for educational purposes, including course packs. Provided by the Presidential Trust for Faculty Excellence.

Other new databases:

  • TOPICsearch is a current events database, with access to newspapers, periodicals, biographies, public opinion polls, and book reviews.
  • Science Reference Center is a full-text general science database, including access to science encyclopedias, reference books, periodicals, and other sources.
  • Consumer Health Complete covers health and wellness and is designed to support the information needs of patients.

These databases are provided by the NC LIVE consortium.

Online Reference Books

We have recently purchased access to two new reference books in the Gale Virtual Reference Library: Poverty in America and Race Relations in the United States, 1920-1940.
