On July 1, Katherine Gill began work as the new Director of Special Collections and University Archivist. Katherine graduated magna cum laude from Mount Holyoke College with a M.A. and an A.B. She has a Masters of Theological Studies from Harvard University, a Diploma Litterarum Latinarum from Gregorian University in Rome and a Ph.D. in Medieval and Early Modern History from Princeton University. Before embarking on her doctorate, Katherine studied at the Vatican School of Paleography, Diplomatics and Archives. Katherine has received numerous fellowships including the Rome Prize, the Fulbright Fellowship and the Andrew M. Mellon Fellowship for Italian Studies at Princeton University. She is conversant in French, Italian, Spanish, German, Latin and Greek.

Katherine has worked in diverse academic settings, both as a classroom professor and as a librarian and archivist. Throughout her scholarship and librarianship, Katherine has continuously engaged with emerging technologies. She is especially interested in exploring and using new tools that create better access to unique materials for researchers, teachers and students. Katherine is excited to learn about and share library collections. She will make preserving the fascinating history of the University a priority. Please introduce yourself to Katherine!
