As many of you already know the Office of Academic Advising has been very busy during these last two weeks registering our incoming class of new students. In addition to the staff of the OAA, 15 other members of the WFU community also volunteered to assist in the registration process. Roz and I were two of those volunteers. There were several reasons to move from a model where freshmen register on the Monday and Tuesday before classes begin to registering over the summer. One of the major reasons for this change was to avoid the last minute scramble for classes that occurred on that Tuesday. Now most all freshmen have at least the minimum number of hours, with most having 14-15 hours scheduled. I’m sure we will learn much from this year and make improvements on the process next year, but in the meantime we have high hopes this will make for a smoother orientation process and start of the semester for our new students.

I really hope this model is successful. Thanks, Roz and Giz for stepping up.
