The second annual Friday Folk Night @ ZSR featured the Nashville duo 10 String Symphony comprised of Rachel Baiman and Christian Sedelmyer (WFU-2007). The name comes from the fact that they each play a 5-string fiddle. The event was held on the evening of April 24 under cool but beautiful skies. This year the event was a collaboration between ZSR Library and the Music Department. Associate Professor Jacqui Carrasco had invited the musicians to campus to give her students a workshop and contacted us to suggest that they would be a perfect fit for our Folk Night spring concert. ZSR Fellow Le’Ron Byrd worked with Jacqui to plan the event and it turned out to be a wonderful evening of excellent music that was thoroughly enjoyed by all who attended.
Special thanks go to: Le’Ron for all of his work planning and putting on the evening; ZSR Ambassador leaders Heidi Gall and Madison Cairo who helped with setup/breakdown and organized and manned the bake sale; ZSR Ambassador (and next year’s ZSR Fellow) Peyton Barr who helped with the venue set up; Barry Davis who did his usual magic with lighting and helping to get the musicians properly powered; Mary Beth Lock who baked cookies and is always at the ready to help with all logistical aspects of ZSR events; Meghan Webb for marketing and baking; and last but not least, Lynn Sutton and Bill Kane who helped haul Biederman furniture back to the Mag Quad after the end of the concert.
Event photos are posted on the ZSR Library Flickr site.
