On Friday, October 22nd, 2021, the ZSR Library hosted our second Super Smash Bros tournament! (our first tournament was in February 2020!) We were excited to team up with the eSport club, the Board Game club, and the ZSR Ambassadors to create a fun evening that included not only a tournament but also a Halloween costume contest! With over 70 people attending the event, we started at 5:30 pm, right after the Library closed, to ensure we could complete the tournament by 9 pm! We had pizza mid-way through the evening, and gave out candy to all who entered the costume contest and prizes to eight individuals! Costume categories included best group costume, best couples costume, best joke, most accurate costume, and others! The Library’s Associate Dean, Mary Beth Lock, ZSR Ambassadors President Parker Beverly, and Outreach Librarian Hu Womack judged the contest!
We want to thank all the Library staff and student assistants who volunteered for a very long day, the students leading the eSport tournament who came early to set up, the Board Game club leadership for their participation, and the ZSR Ambassadors for helping us with the event. It was truly a team effort to make this a fun event for everyone! We hope to continue this event, at more regular intervals, in the future! You can see photos from the event on the ZSR Library Flickr account and the list of costume winners below!
