On Thursday, Oct 13th, the ZSR Library teamed up with the Wake Forest University Graduate School of Arts and Sciences and Biomedical Graduate Programs to offer our 6th annual research retreat! Started in the Fall of 2017 as “Graduate Student Thesis Boot Camp” and rebranded as the “Graduate Student Research Retreat” for the Spring of 2021 event (that made up for canceling our Fall 2020), this event continues to be popular with graduate students from Wake Downtown and the Reynolda campus.
This year 13 graduate students participated in 5 workshops from 10a-4p in classroom 665 in the ZSR Library. Sessions included “Zotero,” “Addressing Writer’s Block and getting past it,” “FAIRest of them all? Collecting and managing research data,” “Copyright and your Research-What you need to know now,” and “Time Management.”
Thanks to Dean Tim Pyatt, Dr. Brad Jones, and Dr. Erik Brady for their support of this event, and special thanks to our instructors, Dr. Ryan Shirey, Dr. Heather Barnes, Molly Keener, and Kawana Neufville, who make this event possible! (and a special shout-out to all those who help us market this event!)

Thanks Hu! This was a great event. I’m so glad I could make a couple of these sessions!
Hu, as a former graduate student, the research retreat would have been a great service–BC
Thank you, Hu, for *all* you did to make it a successful day!!
