ZSR Library is proud to announce that Veronica Escamilla-Brady, Business Manager at ZSR Library, has been selected as a 2025–2026 American Library Association (ALA) Spectrum Scholar.

Currently enrolled in the Master of Library and Information Sciences Program at North Carolina Central University, Veronica exemplifies the leadership, vision, and commitment to community impact that define the Spectrum Scholarship program.

The ALA’s Office for Diversity, Literacy and Outreach Services awarded 2025 Spectrum Scholarships to 60 students pursuing graduate degrees in library and information studies. Since its founding in 1997, the Spectrum Scholarship Program has awarded more than 1,600 scholarships, supporting the next generation of librarians and advancing equity, diversity, and inclusion in the profession.

Competition for this year’s awards was especially strong. The 2025 application cycle drew nearly four times as many applicants as there were available scholarships, and the majority of applicants were deemed highly fundable. A distinguished committee of jurors selected the 2025–2026 Spectrum Scholars based on their demonstrated commitment to community building, leadership potential, and dedication to making social justice part of everyday work in library and information science (LIS).

The Spectrum Scholarship Program is sustained through its endowment and the generous contributions of individuals and organizations whose donations support named scholarships in the Spectrum Family of Funds.
