  • ZSR Library, Room 204
Do you sometimes suspect people online aren’t really people at all? Do you have family or friends who circulate crazy stories and think they are real? Are you curious about how the Russians used Social Media in the 2016 election? If so, you are in the majority. Come to this one hour lunch-and-learn to find out how fake news spreads, who spreads it, and why it matters. We will look into the reasons WHY fake news is created and the mechanics of HOW fake news is disseminated. In the process we will show you how to recognize and respond to fake news, fake accounts, trolls and bots. (This is the first course in a three-part series.)

Join us for the film screening of the documentary, "Seed Queen of Palestine." About the film: In the fields and terraces of the occupied West Bank, a Palestinian woman is leading a quiet revolution. Vivien Sansour is distributing rare, ancient heirloom seeds to Palestinian farmers. Inspired by memories of her grandmother and the delicious food of her childhood, Vivien wants to reintroduce long forgotten Palestinian produce to the tables of people across the West Bank and beyond. And she believes these organic, climate change-resistant seeds are the key to that. But can she persuade farmers struggling with the pressures imposed by the Israeli occupation and agri-business to embrace such traditional crop-growing methods?
