Buildings & Roads of Wake Forest University
The landscape of Wake Forest University is more than a collection of brick and mortar—it is a living record of our values, our growth, and our people. The Buildings & Roads project is a dynamic exploration of this evolution. Originally launched in 2014 by John Walsh ’14, this research initiative has been passed down to a new generation of student-scholars, Meg Campbell ’25 and Anne Jones ’26, to ensure our digital history keeps pace with our physical growth.
By weaving together deep dives into the University Archives with real-time updates from modern press releases, this project uncovers the stories behind the signs. From the historic foundations of the 1956 “Move” to the recent renaming of roads to honor trailblazing faculty, we invite you to discover the people and the milestones that have paved the way for the Wake Forest we know today.
