On the evening of Monday, May 2nd, Wanda, Prentice, Angela and I were on deck to serve 325 Chick-Fil-A sandwiches, bananas, grapes and water to our students! We arrived at 11pm only to be reminded that “Wake The Library” is such a well-planned event that there was little to do prior to the food arriving. A big thanks to the day volunteers that make the event so easy for the night shift!
We were prepped and ready with 325 chicken sandwiches, bananas, grapes and water, and began serving the food at 11:55pm. (Prentice can organize a line better than anyone I know!) While Prentice monitored the line (and searched for extra condiments) Angela gave out the sandwiches, Wanda scooped grapes, and I gave out water and bananas. We were a great team and by 12:15am we were out of grapes, bananas and water and by 12:21am all the sandwiches were gone. By 12:30am we were all on our way home!
The students were wonderful, polite, and thankful. They moved quickly through a line that initially stretched all the way out to the exit desk! We just made it through the line before the chicken ran out! It seems that every semester “Wake the Library” gets bigger, better and easier! Thanks to everyone who works so hard to make these evenings go so well! -Giz Womack

I second that emotion. The day time staff who plan WTL make the event so easy for those of us who show up half awake to hand out food. It is so helpful not to have to concentrate. Great work guys!
