On Wednesday, August 23rd, Wake Forest’s Office of Residence Life and Housing hosted the 11th annual “Faculty House Calls.” This event pairs up WFU Faculty, RL&H Staff, and RAs in teams that go door to door in the first-year residence halls giving out free “merch” (this year, we handed out color-changing cups with the residence hall logo on the front and the ZSR Librarians added to that a two-pocket ZSR branded cell phone wallet for our halls!) Special thanks to librarians Mary Beth Lock, Rebecca May, and Joy Gambill for joining me on this expedition! It was great to meet new students, see how their first week of classes was going, and welcome them to campus! (And some of us even got to see the newly renovated Bostwick and Johnson residence halls! The roof deck on Bostick is amazing!)

Awwwwwww! I missed faculty house calls this year and will hopefully make it back next year. Ya’ll are looking good!
It is always fun to meet the students “where they live” and find out how move in and settling in to college live is going. I find these moments of care so important to the wellbeing of the students, and really unique in higher ed!
