Thanks to an initiative launched by the ZSR Library Board of Visitors, we awarded five $2,500 scholarships to library student workers for the 2023-2024 academic year. To be eligible, students must have met the following criteria:
- Full-time student
- Strong academic performance
- In good standing with the University
- Be an hourly student worker for ZSR Library
- Intend to work at ZSR the following academic year
- Outstanding service to the Library and campus community
The student employees receiving scholarships for the 2023/24 academic year are:
Parker Beverly: A native of Florida, Parker graduated with her undergraduate degree in 2023 and is starting Wake’s MFA program this fall. She is the past president of the ZSR Ambassadors, from September 2021-May 2023, and was the student representative to the Library Planning Committee from August 2021 – May 2023. She was a member of the Dean’s Student Advisory Panel, a Student Advisor, a member of the Mortar Board, a member of Omicron Delta Kappa, and a member of First in the Forest (a first-generation college student organization). She has been on the Dean’s List for 7 consecutive semesters. In ZSR she coordinates the Inclusive Student Life Oral History project for Special Collections & Archives.
Jacquelinne Marroquin: Jacqui is from North Carolina and was the 2023 ZSR Student Employee of the Year as well as a ZSR Ambassador. In addition, she has made the Dean’s List for the Fall 2021 and Fall 2022. On campus, she is a member of Wake Forest Model United Nations, a member of the Latino Club OLAS, and the WFU Circle K Club. She was awarded a Certificate of Honor given by The Order of Twenty-Three for helping in furthering our Pro Humanitate mission. Off-campus she has served as a translator in church and Siler City community since her sophomore year of high school. In the fall of 2022, she was a volunteer for an English as a Second Language class at Northwest Middle School. In ZSR she is an assistant for the Research, Outreach, and Instruction team.
Hope Nitsche: Hope is also from North Carolina and a member of the ZSR Ambassadors. She is the Vice President of the Neuroscience Club for the 2023-2024 academic year. She has made the Dean’s List has done biology research for 2 semesters and had a URECA summer fellowship this summer. She is also a member of the Tri-Beta Honors Society and Eta Sigma Phi Honors Society and is a recipient of the Mullen Scholarship for Upperclassman Students. She works as an assistant in Public Services.
Celina Seo: Celina is from South Korea and will be a ZSR Ambassador this year. On campus, she is a Session Manager Executive of the World Tea Association, the Treasurer of the Korean American Student Association, and the Vice President of the Asian American Identity Group. She works as a Videographer for the OGB Magazine Magnolia. She is also a member of Wake Radio and a member of the Anthony Aston Players. She was also a SOAR Award Nominee. She works as an assistant in Public Services.
Mai Soliman: Mai is from North Carolina and is active in numerous campus groups. She is an American Heart Association Volunteer/member and was a research presenter at the American Heart Association’s Scientific Sessions in 2022. She is a member of the WFU Arabic Club, the Board game club, and the Muslim Student Association. She has also been on the Dean’s List and is a North Carolina Academic Scholar. She works as an assistant in Resource Services.
