Since 2013, the ZSR Library has hosted multiple iterations of an excellent (and heavily used) plagiarism tutorial created by Instruction Librarian Joy Gambill. This tutorial is designed to challenge your understanding of plagiarism and the ethical use of sources in academic writing, featuring samples of source material and examples of student writing. Thanks to some creative web development from the folks at ZSR, it can be used by anyone, with the option to send the quiz results to any email address.
Last summer, I received a request to create a second tutorial designed to enhance awareness of plagiarism and the necessity of citations in certain situations, including information on self-plagiarism and the University’s AI policy. With a lot of help from folks in ZSR, I drafted a 10-question quiz and created a brief video lesson that students can watch before taking the quiz, again with the option to send the results to any email address. Currently, this new video features WFU-specific content, but we are already planning a more generic version that will apply more broadly, based on the popularity of the original quiz.
Now, both these quizzes and the video tutorial can be found on a new landing page! Shoutout to everyone at ZSR who collaborated on this project!

Updating, especially for AI, was a great idea. Thanks!
Thanks to everyone who contributed to this! Plagiarism has only gotten more complicated in recent years, and it’s great to be able to provide a second version addressing some of our newest challenges!
