November Events
Crafternoon, November 3
Headed by Jemma Johnson and Danielle Key with support from the library Fellow Celina Seo, Crafternoons offers snacks and a craft students can make in the library. This fun study break aims to build connection and engagement with students while promoting ZSR’s Wellness Collection. On November 3, 83 people grabbed snacks and made pom-pom keychains!
Public Services provided tables, signage, and setup support for Wake Up Wednesday on November 19, hosted by Campus Life.
HUGE News: Shifting Projects are Complete!
After two years, countless book truck loads, and a whole lot of work, the Public Services shifting projects have been completed! Public Services staff and student workers moved over 350,000 books between floors. The goals of the project were to improve the overall organization of the stacks, enhances long-term accessibility for users, and standardize the flow of the collection across floors. Thank you to everyone who helped with this project, we couldn’t have done it without you!

Documentation Project
November saw the launch of the User Services team’s effort, lead by Jemma Johnson, to update and standardize Public Services’ operating documentation. The project focuses on revising existing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Work Instructions (WINs) to reflect current practices, clarify responsibilities, and support more consistent training across service points. Work to date includes the review and consolidation of circulation workflows, refinement of student-employee procedures, and the development of updated templates and indexing structures to ensure documents are easier to locate and maintain. The revised materials will move through review by the User Services team.
Professional Development
Jemma Johnson attended the 2025 Library Marketing and Communications Conference in St. Louis, Missouri, from November 11-17. Laura Milcarzyk attended 2025 Access Services in Library Conference that was held in Atlanta, Georgia, from November 18-20. Stay tuned for their upcoming blog posts about their experiences!
