Resource Services: Who can help me?
For work related to ordering books and periodicals (magazines, newspapers, bound journals), receipt and payment, preparing new books for the shelf, and new e-resources for access, are you wondering who in Resource Services can help with questions or problem-solving? Immediately below is a situational list, and further down is a list of people and their expertise grouped by unit. Resource Services is staffed Monday through Friday, 8:30 am – 5 pm (although you often can find someone around a bit earlier and a bit later). People who are routinely onsite five days a week and can help with print resources in need of urgent attention are Carolyn, Meg, Lauren, Leslie, and Steve.
Physical Resources
Everything that isn’t a current periodical:
- Rush processing because a patron is standing in Public Services hoping to check out an item that is new: Meg or the first person you see in the department
- Gift book questions: Carol, Lauren, Charles (and take the actual books to Charles unless the donor specifies otherwise)
- Needs cataloging because it isn’t in Alma: Steve
- Other cataloging needs, corrections: Steve (comics/graphic novels, book kits, serials, and authority control), Leslie (music and books), Carolyn (nonprint like board games, films)
- Location change or withdrawals: Steve, Meg
- Lost/missing items except journal issues: Carol, Kathy Martlock
- Damaged or moldy books beyond Craig’s help: seal anything moldy tightly in a plastic bag and dispose of it; take the bibliographic information and barcode number to Carol for replacement consideration and withdrawal. If damaged beyond repair and needs consideration for replacement, consult Carol.
- Reconciliation with offsite storage holdings: Kathy Martlock

Resource Services
Lauren Corbett (Director of Resource Services) General contact for anything collection management or technical services. Manages, supervises, oversees the collection budget, answers questions (mostly internal but also from faculty, students, and the community), gathers collection-related IPEDS/ACRL/ASERL/ATS statistics, shares in work with Alma analytics, licensing, overseas libraries management, and miscellaneous other things as needed.
Acquisitions and Description
Carolyn McCallum (Cataloging Librarian – Nonprint Resources) Catalogs materials in a wide variety of formats, including ebooks, video, microforms, and miscellany, and provides cataloging support for Special Collections and Archives.
Charles Bombeld (Acquisitions Specialist) Receives shipments for books, audiovisual materials, and musical scores, processes invoices for payment, orders materials, and processes book donations.
Gloria Frost (Cataloging Specialist) Imports, edits, and manages bibliographic information for newly added physical resources; receives incoming materials.
Jeff Eller (Head of Acquisitions & Description) Oversees the acquisition and cataloging of monographs in print and electronic formats, taking special responsibility for ebooks and streaming video.
Leslie McCall (Cataloging Librarian – Music & Monographs) Catalogs books, musical scores and CDs, and other materials while coordinating cataloging policy and leading our response to developments in cataloging best practices.
Linda Ziglar (Acquisitions Specialist) Orders materials in all formats, responding to requests by liaisons via GOBI, the zsracq email account, and other channels; supports receiving and invoicing, and activates e-resources in Alma.
Monesha Staton-Fluker (Electronic Collections Specialist) Activates and manages a variety of electronic resource collections, including ebooks, streaming video, and databases; imports bibliographic information and order data for print and electronic orders.
Collection Management
Carol Cramer (Head of Collection Management) First contact for licenses, big-ticket purchases, and gift books. Allocates the budget. Helps with Alma activation for e-resources. Backup to Kate for e-resource maintenance and troubleshooting. Second choice for Alma Analytics and collection-related statistics.
Christian Burris (Serials Acquisitions Coordinator) Orders, renews, and cancels recurring resources like journals and databases. First contact for journal pricing information or access problems that might stem from a payment/renewal issue. Helps with Alma activation for e-journals.
Prentice Armstrong (Library Accountant) Manages bill payment in Workday for all formats. First contact for (alleged) non-payment of any collections-related invoice.
Continuing Resources and Database Management
Meg Sturdevant (Resource Operations Specialist) Oversees the marking of materials to be added to the collection, processes materials to be sent to and received from the commercial binder, processes withdrawals and location changes for materials, and supervises and manages our student assistants.
Kathy Martlock (Database Maintenance Specialist) Analyzes, enhances, and corrects data in the Alma system on both large and small scales, and maintains electronic resources.
LaDonna Weeks (Authority Control Specialist) Reviews authority control reports and corrects name, series, and subject headings in bibliographic records in Alma.
Steve Kelley (Head of Continuing Resources & Database Management) Supervises work of the group, catalogs serials, government documents, and graphic novels, including creating new records as needed, performs catalog maintenance work on older materials.
