Changes to Deacon One Cards and ZSR Delivers

Deacon One is moving away from physical ID badges and implementing a mobile app. Starting in Fall of 2026, incoming students can opt for the mobile ID app only.
To prepare for this, James Harper is working with the Deacon One office and the vendor of our smart locker system to upgrade our software and hardware.
Department Updates
Public Services is currently in the process of completing performance review processes. This year will be slightly different from previous years, as we will be engaging in a calibration process to ensure “a consistent application of a shared, standard interpretation of the performance rating scale and criteria.”
The department is also in the process of developing departmental and individual objectives for 2026. These objectives would align with existing goals for the department, which include:
- Public Services will assess its internal structures and partnerships to meet ZSR Library goals.
- Public Services will streamline processes and protocols to improve productivity and effectiveness of all departmental operations.
- Public Services will develop mechanisms to improve discovery, availability, and access to services, collections, and resources.
- Public Services will support other Library departments to increase capacity.
“What’s on Your Mind?” Comment Board
Unsurprisingly, comments were mainly about snow and ice (with a side of mayo), leaving a total of 42 posts on the comment board in December and January.
