On Sunday, March 19th, ZSR Library joined the Office of Sustainability and other campus partners at Campus Gardens for the Spring Equinox Festival. The Festival was a fun and welcoming gathering of people, plants, and animals, and provided an opportunity for the campus community to welcome the budding life of spring and get a full-sensory experience of a garden in springtime.
Hu Womack and I were thrilled to provide an environmentally-themed Little Free Library (LFL) for this event, giving away several popular fiction and non-fiction titles centered around nature and environmental issues. The LFL was popular with students and program attendees! We also provided ZSR-branded ceramic pots and a seed growing kit for attendees to cultivate in their home and office spaces. Festival attendees were also enamored with the gorgeous letter press bookmarks, created by our very own Preservation Librarian, Craig Fansler.
Special thanks to Emily Kemp, the Spring Equinox Festival Committee, and all of the Campus Garden Crew for partnering with us. We had a blast! Thank you to Craig Fansler for the lovely letterpress bookmarks and Hu Womack for helping to make this event happen!

Thank you, Megan and Hu, (with a special nod to Craig),) for continuing this tradition of impactful outreach events! The LFL “earth friendly edition” seemed to be a big hit! Thanks too for taking time out of your weekend to attend. I’m sure the students appreciated your presence!
Meghan, kudos to you for curating a wonderful environmentally-themed little free library of books for this event! That’s a lot of work! It was a pleasure to help out with this wonderful event you’ve cultivated over the years!
Looks like a fun event! Congrats!
How fun! Great idea to have a themed LFL!
