On Friday, December 16th, Librarians from Elon University hosted the Fall meeting of NC-LITe. NC-LITe is a twice-annual meeting of academic librarians in North Carolina that focuses on library instruction and instructional technology. We met at Elon’s Moseley Center, a perfect venue for the meeting. Rosalind Tedford, Joy Gambill, Kathy Shields, and I were all there to represent ZSR!

We started the day with brief campus updates from each institution attending, and then Michael Vaughn, who helps Elon faculty, staff, and students find new ways to use technology to enhance their teaching and learning. Then we had lightning presentations on supporting student project ideas. My presentation described HvZ, the ZieSta Room, Humans v Zombies, and the Senior Showcase, all events that started as student ideas! Another presentation, from Elon, was about their Kickbox program. A Kickbox is a box, stuffed with guidance, resources, and a Visa gift card ($300!) to help students develop and make their idea a reality.

After the lightning presentations, we had a choice of touring Alamance Hall, room 207, a new collaborative classroom, full of new technology, or the Maker Hub, a makerspace open to all Elon students! After the tours, everyone had lunch on their own. As usual, this NC-LITe meeting was a great opportunity to swap and share ideas and catch up with colleagues!

Elon was a wonderful host, and the ZSR Library has agreed to host the Spring 2017 meeting of NC-LITe. We are looking forward to seeing the members of NC-LITe in ZSR this May!
