Special Collections & Archives (SCA) is pleased to announce that Wake Forest’s Board of Trustees Minutes, 1834-1891 (2 volumes, 1834-1871 and 1871-1891), are now available online and ready for research use by students, faculty, staff, and the broader public.
Thanks to generous funding from the Z. Smith Reynolds Library and Dean Tim Pyatt, the fragile volumes were transferred to ECS Conservation (HF Group) for conservation and digitizing.
SCA has worked with ECD in the past and they have handled some of our most valuable materials, including one of our Nuremberg Chronicles. Senior Conservator Matt Johnson reviewed the volumes and gave an estimate for their conservation, repair, rehousing, and digitization, and the work was completed in the summer of 2020.
The original volumes, now repaired and stored in appropriate housing, will be stored safely at ZSR’s off-site storage. In addition to online versions, HF Group also created a facsimile for each volume so researchers can still experience the sensation of turning the pages as they learn about WF’s early history.
