Last year we hosted a large celebration for Dr. Wilson’s 100th birthday, so I did not want to let his 101st go by without acknowledging such an important milestone. Dr. Wilson, also known as “Mr. Wake Forest” embodies so much about Wake Forest that is good and true. I also have some updates and announcements which may be of interest.

Dr. Wilson and Emily Herring Wilson have decided that his World War II letters will be available to researchers visiting Special Collections & Archives (Room 625, ZSR Library). Permission will need to be granted by the Wilsons for any citations/publications, but anyone will be welcome to come and read. The Wilsons have also given permission for a series of course recordings of Dr. Wilson teaching to be made available online. We hope to have both the letters and recordings ready for access by the end of the spring semester and will make an announcement when they are ready for viewing.

Two other Wilson projects in progress include the creation of a specific timeline of his career, which will become part of the History of Wake Forest Timeline, and a new digital collection dedicated to Dr. Wilson. And please do not forget our resource page and finding aids to his collections as Dean of the College and as Provost.

I would like to again list our past donors, as without them, we would not have been able to complete the processing of his papers. If you are interested in supporting our work, please let us know at archives@wfu.edu
