ZSR Graffiti Wall Gets Out of the House to Support Gender Equality Allies

Like the little gnome in the movie, Amelie, our graffiti wall moved from ZSR to the Mag Quad today for a few hours. The Gender Equality Allies group on campus supports positive body image, positive role models and other issues on inequality. Last year, we partnered with this group, headed by Amy Shackelford to do... Continue reading “ZSR Graffiti Wall Gets Out of the House to Support Gender Equality Allies”

Halloween at Habitat

On Halloween, some brave (and perhaps tortured) souls were transported to another dimension. A dimension where a house had unpainted interior walls. This house, being built by Habitat for Humanity on North Cherry Street, needed interior primer. Wanda Brown, Barry Davis, James Harper, Tim Mitchell, Chelcie Rowell, Bill Kane and Craig Fansler spent the day... Continue reading “Halloween at Habitat”

Humans v Zombies – Fall 2013

On Friday, October 25th from 9-11 pm, the ZSR Library hosted another Human v Zombies event at ZSR! We had 80 students attend and seven amazing volunteers from the ZSR staff! ZSRx: The Open, Online Learning Community at Wake Forest

As previously announced, ZSRx: The Cure for the Common Web was a great success. ZSR at Habitat for Humanity Women Build 2013

On Thursday, August 29 eight women of the ZSR Library swung hammers, raised walls, and lugged lumber as part of Habitat for Humanity of Forsyth County’s Labor of Love Building Blitz. Two special builds took place during Labor of Love – the Hospice Healing Build and the Women Build – and this year the ZSR... Continue reading “ZSR at Habitat for Humanity Women Build 2013”

This time of year brings my annual recap of Capture the Flag @ ZSR, but this year is different! I’m recapping four different student events held in July and August. First, in July, we hosted the new student athletes, the Bridge students and numerous summer school students for our first Capture the Flag and Humans... Continue reading “Big Games at ZSR!”

ZSRx Mini-MOOC is a Great Success!

In March and April, the Z. Smith Reynolds Library conducted a successful mini-MOOC (massive, open, online course) for 700 Wake Forest University parents and alumni. ZSRx: The Cure for the Common Web was designed as a free, open, online course for the external Wake Forest University community. The course engaged participants in a fun, collaborative,... ZSRx: The MOOC that wasn’t a MOOC

Remember that time ZSR offered an online information literacy course? No, not that one. This one. The one we designed to be MOOC-like, free and open to anyone, focused on general web literacy skills, in the hopes that *maybe* 100 people would want to sign up. No? Well, let me tell you about it. Let’s... Continue reading “ZSRx: The MOOC that wasn’t a MOOC”

ZSR @ Food for Thought

This year, the annual “Earth Day Fair” on Wake Forest’s campus became a themed event to highlight food injustice, and was entitled “Food for Thought”, sponsored by the Sustainability Office at WFU. The fair that was held on Manchester Plaza from noon to 6pm on Saturday, April 20th, was well attended and had local vendors... Continue reading “ZSR @ Food for Thought”
