Hubert Kinson (1918-1956) and Imo Jean (Anthony) Middleton were Southern Baptist Convention missionaries to Chile, 1950-1984. Hubert was an alumnus of Wake Forest College (1950), and Imo Jean graduated from Woman's College of the University of North Carolina, now University of North Carolina at Greensboro. Their papers contain biographical information, family and professional correspondence, diaries (1935-1936), notebooks and scrapbooks, writings, photographs, and educational materials from Appalachian State University, Southeastern Seminary, Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, Wake Forest College, and the Woman's College of the University of North Carolina. Materials focus on the pair's missionary work in the Baptist Mission, Santiago, Chile, and to other Baptist-related work in Chile.

Mill Creek Baptist Church was founded in 1762 in Bolivia, N.C. (Brunswick County). The church is a member of the Brunswick Baptist Association. This collection contains minutes of church conferences from April 25, 1818 to September 10, 1848, minutes for 1879, and a church covenant dated 1881. This volume includes membership rolls with an occasional death date recorded thereon. On November 13, 1838, members were dismissed to form Mount Pisgah.

Mount Carmel Baptist Church was organized on April 24, 1821 as Smith's Baptist Church. The church changed its name to Mount Carmel in 1848. This church has been a member of the Chowan (1823-1883) and the West Chowan (1883-present) Baptist associations. This volume contains Sunday school statistics (1886-1890) [broken series], Sunday school rolls, Sunday school meeting minutes (1889, undated), and financial records (1886, 1887). They are handwritten in a hardcover notebook, which has stained yellowed pages. Some pages are ripped off or torn.
