W. (William) Randall Lolley was a Baptist preacher, scholar, and one of the pivotal figures in the late-20th-century schism within the Southern Baptist Convention. He served as president of the Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in Wake Forest, N.C., from 1974-1987, when he resigned in protest. This collection documents the work of Lolley, particularly roles as president of the Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary and as pastor at First Baptist Church (Greensboro, N.C.).

Walter Eugene Daniel (1859-1932) was a lawyer from Weldon, NC. He was a graduate and trustee of Wake Forest College. The bulk of the collection consists of Walter's personal letters to Jeanette Snead while courting, as well as other letters between family members. Biographical materials include some family biographies and educational materials of their daughter Jeanette. The collection also includes one series of speeches written by Ashby Dunn, Daniel's son-in-law.

Wells Chapel Baptist Church is located near Wallace, N.C. in Duplin County. It was organized as Bulltail or Bultail in 1756 with the Rev. Samuel Newton as the first pastor. Bulltail was affiliated with the Kehukee Association in its early years. In June of 1935, the name of "Bulltail" was changed to Wells Chapel. It is at present (1964) in the Easter Association.
