Special Collections & Archives is dependent on the many donations we receive from our very generous donors. All of the collections we do accept follow our Collection Development Policy, which guides our work in this area. This past April, we had the good fortune to cross paths with Caron and Danny Gray Myers. Danny, known as “Chocolate,” is affiliated with Childress Racing and is the son of the late NASCAR pioneer Bobby Myers of Winston-Salem.
The couple had recently run across a collection at an estate sale which they purchased and generously donated to Special Collections & Archives. The collection belonged to Jean Ring Cude (1906-1994), a prominent poet from Winston-Salem, and includes books by NC authors Paul Bartlett, Edward Dixon Garner, Julia Montgomery Street, Dorothy Edwards Summerrow, Lillian Turner, and Gertrude LaVinia Vestal. Once the materials are processed and cataloged, they will be available in SCA’s Research Room (625 Z. Smith Reynolds Library) to researchers and visitors, thanks to the Myers.
