Earlier this year, we began compiling a list of our LGBTQ+ collections for the Society of American Archivists (SAA) “Lavender Legacies” page. This guide provides the “first formal and comprehensive guide to primary source material relating to the history and culture of lesbian, bisexual, gay, and transgender (LBGT) people held by repositories in North America.”
Last year, SCA published a subject guide on LGBTQ at Wake Forest. The guide includes links to documentary films, university publications and records, interviews, and books. Linking to the Lavender Legacies is part of SCA’s important work as part of an overall plan to expand our LGBTQ representation in our materials through artifacts, digital collections, oral histories, records, timeline entries, and web site preservation.
We are always hoping to expand our collections in this area. If you would like make a collection donation, please let us know at firstname.lastname@example.org.
