Special Collections & Archives, in collaboration with ZSR Library Outreach, is pleased to announce the forthcoming Dr. Samuel T. Gladding Writing Experience. We will be hosting programs focused on the practice of writing, and Wake Forest students will have the opportunity to hear from authors and poets and to participate in Writers Camp.
The Writing Experience is named for Dr. Sam Gladding and his contributions to publishing and support of students. Sam made a generous donation to SCA to support humanities programming and we are glad to be able to honor his memory in this way. (with the generous support of the WFU Dean of the College)
After a hiatus during COVID-19, Writers’ Camp is coming back as the capstone event of the Sam Gladding Writing Experience. 19 selected students will attend the Camp on Friday, February 2nd from 4:00-9:00 p.m. in the ZSR Library. Participants will attend a keynote address, find a place to write in ZSR Library, and write until 9 p.m. (with a break for dinner). Students will then have the opportunity to continue editing their work. Once the writing portion ends, we will copy edit, catalog, and publish the volume in print and e-book formats, providing each student with a print copy and keeping a copy in ZSR’s Special Collections and Archives (and another copy for check-out in the ZSR stacks). This program is not open to the public.

This should be a great experience honoring Sam!
This is an appropriate way to honor one of the finest people I have known, and it is fitting for such a generous person to have made it possible in the first place.
Congratulations for remembering and honoring my WF classmate, Sam Gladding.
Great to see how Sam’s legacy is living on!
