On Friday Sarah, Mary Beth, and I went to Thomasville, NC for the NCLA Library Instruction at the Point of Need, co-sponsored by the College & University and Community College & Junior College Libraries Sections. It was a really good conference and the conference organizers did a terrific job of everything.
The conference was held at the Davidson County Community College Conference Center which was an outstanding facility! The rooms were really nice and the presentation technology was top-notch (and the same in each room). The DCCC folks were very nice, and the lunch even included a vegan option.
I participated in the conference to give the keynote and participate in a panel. Here are the slides from the keynote:
The panel was “Instructional Technology Panel Discussion” with Kim Duckett, Principal Librarian for Digital Technologies and Learning, NCSU Libraries, Jeffrey Hamilton, e-Learning Consultant, State Library of North Carolina, and Wanda Barker, Director of Distance Learning, NC Community Colleges.
I was also able to attend Sarah and Mary Beth’s presentation, “Lessons Learned: Developing an Information Literacy Course for Science Majors and Pre-Med Students.” They did a great job explaining the LIB100/200 program and discussing the creation of their course, including pointing out specific resources that were useful in the design process. Several folks had questions for them at the end.
So all in all, it was a great conference! Nice & close location, interesting and relevant programming, and fun folks!
