Grady R. Pulliam, Jr. was a Winston-Salem, N.C. native and Triad Insurance Company executive who was a U.S. Army servicemember in Europe during World War II. Materials in this collection include letters and postcards sent to his wife Gladys and daughter Ann, other family, and friends, training manuals and notes, maps, a timeline of his service, programs, booklets, photographs related to the military and to European culture, K-type rations, magazines, and uniform clothing and related items. Some materials originate after the war but are related to his service, such as correspondence with veterans from his unit. Some materials are in French, but most of the collection is in English.

The Graylyn Estate was originally the home of Bowman Gray, Senior, and Nathalie Lyons Gray. The Graylyn Estate collection contains information about the planning, construction, and functioning of the buildings and grounds of Graylyn. Materials include blueprints, photographs and negatives of decor, design, interiors and exteriors, receipts for building materials and labor, architectural plans of Luther Lashmit, correspondence with architects and builders, oral histories about the estate on audio and video cassettes, research notes from Thomas Gray, landscape designs from Thomas Sears, and materials collected about the estate and related people by longtime Wake Forest University history professor J. Edwin Hendricks. The collection also documents the fire that destroyed part of the estate in the 1980s and its rebuilding.

The papers of this New York family consist of military and civilian appointments of Worden Griffin as Sgt. Inf. 49th Brig., N.Y., 1818; Ensign, 123rd Inf. Regt. N.Y., 1821 (signed by Dewitt Clinton; as Lt. Inf. 123rd N.Y., 1823; Capt. Inf., 123rd N.Y., 1828; and as Inspector of Leather, St. Lawrence County, 1828. There is also a deed (land indenture) from the State Of Iowa, 1847. The collection contains two diaries, 1863-64, of Thomas Frazier Griffin, soldier in the 13th Iowa Regiment, 17th Army Corps, 6th Division, Army of the Tennessee.
