Members from the Holly Springs congregation branched off in 1868 to organize the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. Records consist of minutes of church conferences, the 1828 deed to the church property, and a 1922 Centennial Homecoming program.

Hubert McNeill Poteat (1886-1958) was an alumnus of (1906) and Wake Forest College professor of Latin and head of the Classics Department (1912-1956). He was also an author, organist, and a member of the Sudan Temple of the Shrine. This collection reflects Poteat's personal and professional interests, including copies of his writings and speeches, a photograph, a notebook (circa 1907), and excerpts of Mrs. Wilma Parrish's journal describing Poteat's funeral in 1958.
