John Davis Humber was an alumnus of Wake Forest College (1917) and medical doctor. He served as an Assistant in Anatomy at Wake Forest College, 1916-1917; as Superintendent of Southern Pacific General Hospital, San Francisco, 1927-1938; as a specialist in cancer research; and as co-founder of the Coffey-Humber treatment for cancer. This collection contains biographical information and reprints of articles dealing with cancer research, and a photocopy of the Coffey-Humber Cancer Research clipping scrapbook, 1930.

Collection consists of writings and pamphlets of Lanneau, a native of Charleston, South Carolina, and professor of mathematics at Furman College, where he organized his students into a company known as the "Brooks Troop" that later joined Hampton's South Carolina Legion. John Lamb Prichard was an alumnus of Wake Forest College (Class of 1840), and a Baptist minister in Virginia and at First Baptist Church, Wilmington, North Carolina, 1856-1862, where he died November 13, 1862. This collection contains his license to preach, given by Wake Forest Baptist Church and his baccalaureate sermon, delivered June 9, 1858, at Wake Forest College.

John Marchant Brewer (1820-1907) was a Wake Forest alumnus (1840), merchant and planter, and likely Confederate States Army veteran. Ann Eliza Wait (1826-1900) was the only daughter of Samuel Wait, first president of Wake Forest College. Together, John Marchant Brewer and Ann Eliza Wait were married and had who had 10 children. This collection documents the life of John Marchant Brewer and, to a lesser degree, the lives of his family members and social circle. Materials include bills and receipts, certificates, news clippings, correspondence, geneology research materials, obituary and memorial writings, photographs, and writings.

Twelve of the letters in this collection are from prominent Baptist leaders with decided views on missionary funds, support for Peck's newspaper and missionary activities, and doctrinal questions. John Richard Miller was a Baptist pastor in a number of churches in North Carolina. His memoirs were written at the request of his children. His memoirs began with his birth in 1864, and continue until around 1940. In addition to his chronological memoirs he wrote sketches of Baptist churches where he served as pastor in the Randolph, Liberty, Stanly, Kings Mountain, Pee Dee, Burnt Swamp, and Robeson Baptist associations.

John Stradley was an Englishman and armorer by profession. The handwritten memoir tells of his voyages to New York, the Barbados Islands, the West Indies, and his return to England. He mentions press gangs that forced men into military service, encountered storms, and his conversion to Christianity. Joseph Conrad Watkins, also known as J.C. Watkins, graduated from Wake Forest College in 1897, and later served as a College trustee. These papers consist of a grade report, November 15, 1894; and a letter from W.W. Ward, circa August 29, 1895, turning his scholarship over to Watkins with a note by Charles E. Taylor on the bottom of the letter.

Joseph Conrad Watkins, Jr. was an alumnus of Wake Forest College (1924). His father graduated from Wake Forest in 1897 and was given an honorary doctorate in 1922. Joseph Pike enlisted as a Private in Company C, 10th Battalion Virginia Artillery, in the United States Civil War. These four letters, written by Pike between March and December 1864, are to his family and describe a storm in camp, camp life, their location, the weather, a visit to his brother John and his winter quarters, and the battle of Chaffin's Farm. The collection also contains his oath of allegiance (1865) and an 1859 receipt for taxes.
