This collection documents meetings of the Board of Trustees of Wake Forest College (University) and the Executive Committee of the Board. The contents of these folders consist primarily of meeting minutes and agendas, but also included are microfilm reels of minutes, copies of minutes, notes, meeting notices, faculty and staff appointments, budget materials, recommendations to the Board, resolutions, correspondence, and other supporting documents.

Wake Forest University Board of Trustees is part of the University's governance structure, as the ultimate decision-making authority. Board committees include Academic, Administration, Athletics, Audit and Compliance, Bylaws, Compensation, Executive, Finance, Advancement and Communications, Health Affairs, and Investment Committees. This collection contains Board administrative materials including handbooks and directories, versions of the charters and bylaws, documents pertaining to the Board's relationship with the Baptist State Convention of North Carolina, meeting minutes beginning in 1976, subject files, and a limited amount of materials from the WFU Health Sciences Board of Directors. Wake Forest's Board of Trustees Architect's Committee seems to have begun around June 1951, formed to prepare to move the College's campus from Wake Forest, N.C., to Winston Salem; this move was often referred to as "the removal." Members of the committee included Board of Trustees members, School of Medicine men, as well as the campus architect Jens F. Larson and his son and business partner Nils Larson. This collection documents the work of Wake Forest College's Architect's Committee in preparing to move the campus. Materials include minutes, correspondence, and notes by and about the Committee. Two sets of filled out questionnaires document faculty satisfaction at both the College and School of Medicine. Letters from both pro- and anti-Tribble parties are represented in the collection, as well as the transcripts of interviews with various campus parties in December 1955 conducted by the Special Committee to Investigate the Welfare of Wake Forest College.

Broadus E. Jones was a Baptist pastor in Raleigh and Concord, North Carolina. This collection contains biographical materials, correspondence, photographs, and sermons and sermon notes dating from 1918-1972, with some undated materials.

Brooks Hays (1898-1981) was a U.S. Congressman from Arkansas; staff assistant to John F. Kennedy and Lyndon B. Johnson; Director of the Ecumenical Institute at Wake Forest University; and chair of the North Carolina Good Neighbor Council. His papers consist of correspondence; speeches and addresses; photographs; audiotapes; and clippings relating to his activities after his defeat for Congress in 1958.

WFU's Buildings and Grounds Department, now split into the Office of Maintenance and Utilities and the Office of Planning and Construction, was the advising department to the University's plans in alterating campus grounds. Collection materials include meeting minutes, budgets, correspondence, contracts, invoices about the contruction and maintenance of campus facilities, as well as building-centric University publications.

The Wake Forest University Charlotte, North Carolina, Campus was established in 2012 as a result of the growing student population. The School of Business has many MBA programs, such as a masters in Business Administration and Master of Science in Accountancy. The Charlotte School of Professional Studies is in the same location and also offers many masters programs, such as a masters of Health Administration and masters of Educational Leadership.
The Wake Forest University School of Medicine has an instructional site in Charlotte for third and fourth year medical students located near the Atrium Health Carolinas Medical Center. The materials in this collection include an email and a news article.

Elliott Brantly Earnshaw was an instructor in Mathematics and the Acting Bursar from 1906-1907. He was the Assistant Secretary of the Board of Trustees (1907-1923), when he was promoted to Secretary of the Board of Trustees. He served as Bursar (1907-1952) and Superintendant of the College Hospital (1911-1952). This collection contains correspondence, subject files, ledgers and related materials, Masonic loan fund papers and related materials, and Edith Earnshaw's Citizen Sevice Corps materials.

Luther Rice Mills had many roles at Wake Forest College. He served as adjuct professor (1867-1871), professor of mathematics (1871-1907), bursar of the college (1876-1907), and agent for the Board of Education (1876-1880). This collection consists of Bostwick Loan Fund contracts and papers, promissary notes to Wake Forest, receipts, and professional correspondence from 1886-1892.

William Gaston Simmons served as Bursar and Professor of Wake Forest College. The Bursar of Wake Forest College managed and recorded students tuition payments; functions which are now performed by the Office of Financial Services. Worth Hart Copeland was a Wake Forest College alumnus (1939), Assistant College Secretary and Treasurer (circa 1946-1951), and College Secretary and Treasurer (1952-1968). This collection contains bursar's office records that were maintained by Worth Hart Copeland. Materials in the collection include bylaws, charters, obituaries, correspondence, memorandums, legal deeds, indentures, and other types of agreements, maps, budgets, insurance records, clippings, and pledge documents, dated 1804-2015.
